Does Being Authentic Promote Self-actualization at Work? Examining the Links Between Work-Related Resources, Authenticity at Work, and Occupational Self-actualization

Abstract Authenticity at work (AAW) is an important work-related state. Little known about how other resources can promote AAW and the link between organizational self-actualization (OSA). In three studies, we drew on conservation of resource theory to determine whether serves as a mediator distinct (i.e., social support work, job autonomy, authentic leadership) OSA. Studies 1 2 used cross-sectional design ( N s = 209; 597), study 3 two-wave longitudinal 143) evaluate data from employees. While studies supported positive, indirect relation OSA via AAW, additional post hoc findings challenged these results. Alternatively, reciprocal, cross-lagged effect plausible.
